RoHS Directive (Restriction of Hazardous Substances)

The RoHS Directive (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) sets limits on the use of certain hazardous substances in new electrical and electronic equipment by establishing maximum allowable concentrations. Its aim is to protect human health and the environment, including ensuring the proper recovery and environmentally responsible disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

The latest amendment to Annex III of the RoHS Directive specifically sets the following restrictions:

  • 0.1% by weight of Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB), Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE), Bis(2-ethylhexyl) Phthalate (DEHP), Benzylbutyl Phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Disobutyl Phthalate (DIBP);
  • 0.01% by weight of Cadmium (Cd);
  • 0.7% by weight of Hexavalent Chromium used as an anti-corrosion agent in the working fluid of sealed carbon steel circuits of gas-operated absorption heat pumps for space and water heating.

As part of the supply chain for electrical and electronic equipment, ITALFIL S.p.A. is committed to complying with the RoHS Directive, ensuring that all obligations are met throughout the supply chain and obtaining specific information from its suppliers.
